Rededication of Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium at Chaffey High School

On Tuesday, July 16, Chaffey High School commenced a re-dedication ceremony of their beloved Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium. Originally erected in 1939, the building was revived to its original luster.

The modernization of the historic theater provides not only improvements of the existing structure, but structural repairs and a new cooling and ventilation system. Renovations to the structure include theatrical and acoustical upgrades, a new catwalk and steel stairway, two new elevators, accessibility upgrades and a lobby restroom expansion. Design and construction was aided by Tilden-Coil’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) process and team. The BIM team used 3D laser scanning to survey the entire auditorium; this task entailed 4 days of onsite scanning with 210 scan locations, and ultimately took only 30 days to produce an accurate, viable model to be used for design.

Thrilled at the unveiling of the auditorium, Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Mathew Holton announced that “The Gardiner Spring Auditorium is an iconic structure and a wonderful asset for our district, students and the community we serve” and that its legacy will last “for many future generations to enjoy.” The ceremony ended with opening the doors for the community that has been eagerly awaiting to see the complete renovation.
