Overview

The new College of Engineering building is a 100,670 sf, 3-story with an accessible rooftop area with a solar-thermal lab. Within the building are 45 classroom/teaching areas contained in two blocks. The classrooms and laboratory space surround a voluminous engineering hall that provides multipurpose space for labs, projects, exhibits, presentations and student collaboration. The engineering hall interconnects interior and exterior space. This building is an important addition to the growing CBU campus and will house a variety of emerging research and teaching activities for the college of engineering. To expedite the construction schedule, the building was designed to utilize a special steel moment frame with ConXTech connections for the building's lateral system. Utilizing the ConXTech structural system, 843 tons of structural steel was erected in only 15 days.
